Night in the Sahara Desert: Merzouga – Erg Chebbi

When one thinks of Morocco, one immediately imagines these images of epinal camel caravans crossing the ocher dunes of the Sahara at sunset or speend Night in the Sahara Desert. It is exactly this kind of picture that we reserved this stay in Merzouga at the gates of the only Saharan erg in Morocco.

Discovering Erg Chebbi in Merzouga:

Travel to Sahara, Days from Marrakeck to FesThe Erg Chebbi in the valley of Tafilalet on the outskirts of Merzouga is with Chigaga the only Saharan erg in Morocco covered with huge dunes 150 meters high on average. For centuries, the region of Merzouga has been a real crossroads between the civilizations of the African desert. From the terrace of our kasbah inn, we can already see the first voluptuous sand dunes stretching towards what seems to be the infinite. The desert is calling us. Mama Africa calls us. As soon as the overwhelming heat fades, we ride our camels for a camel trek of 2 hours in the desert to join our camp at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes.

Camel trekking in Desert of Merzouga:

night Desert Camp, camel trekking, Days tours from Fes to MarrakechCamel trips in Morocco are a traditional tourist interest. Hiking has always been a popular and widely used model of Moroccan holidays, taking you on a journey to the top of beauty at some point in the magnificent landscape. Camel trips can be completed in Morocco in many unique locations, not just camel riding trips in the desert, but additionally, camel trips can be done on the beachfront in locations that include Agadir or Essaouira. Hiking in the Wild Desert offers a great opportunity to connect with nature in a unique way.

Enjoying the sunset and sunrises from the dunes in the Sahara desert:

Sunsets and sunrises are beautiful in any corner of the world, but there’s something magical about the way the warm colors of the sky paint the golden dunes of the Sahara. Just like stargazing, it’s the deafening silence as the day begins or ends that sets the perfect atmosphere to enjoy the kaleidoscope of color that takes over the Sahara Desert.

Night in the Sahara Deser Camp:

days from marrakech to desert,Night Desert Camp, Visit M’Hamid El Ghizlane, 3 Days Tours from Fes to Marrakech

Night in the Sahara Deser Back at camp, a tajine with mint tea welcomes us. Our guests then leave “Guembri” (kind of three-stringed guitar), “djembe” (drum) and “rattlesnakes” (sort of castanets) for a small concert of music and traditional songs, the opportunity to try these Funny instruments and share some crazy laughs. Before going to bed, we go back to our dune in the dark to admire the sky riddled with stars and shooting stars. Never has the Milky Way been so brilliant, far from the visual pollution of the big cities. Stretched out on the sand in this silence and this absolute darkness, I think of this immense desert which surrounds us and all that it conceals of unknown, with what it was formerly, an ocean or perhaps a savannah where still lived prehistoric species. More than a simple absence of noise, the silence that reigns sharpens all our senses and our perceptions and plunges us deeply into the present moment. Eyes open or closed, one would almost feel like touching the sky.
